Radio Shack

When it occurred to me that I would finally have the opportunity to take some pictures of MIT during my upcoming campus visit, I came to the conclusion that my trusty old camera - the sluggish and bulky Nikon Coolpix 4200 - was just not going to cut it. Don't worry, it will not go quietly into the night... My dad has not yet entered the age of new-fangled digital picture-taking contraptions, and he seems to think my old camera will be a great (read: free) way to get himself started. What will take its place in my photo sharing arsenal, you ask? Check this out.

When was the last time you found the cheapest price for an item at Radio Shack? Believe it or not, that's where I found this camera - for $50 cheaper than everywhere else I had looked. Google, FTW! After calling the store to verify that this epic event was not just my imagination, I sped away in the car to make my purchase. Halfway there, I realized that in my excitement and disbelief I had forgotten my shoes. I turned around, grabbed some flip-flops from the house, and took off once more, arriving at Radio Shack before closing time and leaving - for the first time - feeling like I hadn't been ripped off.

It never ceases to amaze me how strikingly similar we are. We have the same views on the whole glass half full or empty. There is also the fact that theoretically the liquid in the glass can never occupy exactly one half of the volume since we are only capable of splitting an atom into so many pieces, but lets not even open that can of worms.
Congratulations on the camera.

but the camera you bought is the same type then your old one. I thought you were going to buy one like the big ones (like nikon d40). But anyway, the best thing is, you can use the 50 dollars you saved to buy MIT apparel !!

You're visiting? When? I can give you all of the inside scoopness that a freshman has to offer. Details, details, I need details!

Greg! Wow, I guess they're just letting anybody get a blog these days... =P

I miss you, bro!

@Isshak - It's the same category, point-and-shoot... But it's sooo much better. 2 more MP, bigger LCD, slimmer body (fits into my pocket), and it's so quick! Just a second or so in between shots. The old one required about 10 seconds. And yay for MIT apparel!

Hey Hawkins! Ohhhh...exciting...the hunt for a digital camera! (I got a new one this summer, and actually, it might be more of a pain than an exciting adventure.) Anyway, I'm amazed/dumbfounded that you found your camera for less at Radio Shack. This is basically a sign of the apocalypse.
